About This Site
Red Wine & Apple Sauce is an evidence-based parenting blog that covers health and science news that’s directly relevant to raising children. Much of what I cover involves issues that can be confusing to understand or about which there’s a lot of misinformation on the web (such as vaccines). Occasionally I’ll diverge a bit from this basic theme, but I tried to stick to parenting and science.
Among the topics I cover are psychology, nutrition, vaccines, discipline, pregnancy, illness, public health, science communication and anything else I find worthwhile that other parents might find interesting or useful as well. Most posts rely on peer-reviewed research or evidence from credible, reliable sources which I liberally link to in my posts.
I encourage civil discussions in the comments since science is based on a long history of debate and sometimes involves retractions. However, I encourage everyone to read the Comments Policy first; all first-time comments are held for moderation first.

About This Mom
My son D was born in June of 2010, and I’ve been enjoying the intersection of mommyhood and my other pursuits – writing, photography and teaching – ever since. I also just welcomed C into the world on St. Patrick’s Day 2014. It’s a challenge juggling it all, but that’s not news to other parents! I’ve been a journalist and a photographer for more than 20 years. You can visit my main journalism site at www.tarahaelle.net. Follow me on Twitter at @tarahaelle. I also run the accounts @MomHealthNews and @health_reporter, but @tarahaelle is my main handle. If you would like to email me, my email address is tara (at) redwineandapplesauce (dot) com.
